Amanda Beirne, '14, joined the softball Avenging Angels coaching staff in 2016 as a volunteer assistant coach after pitching for Meredith from 2010-2014. She graduated from Meredith with her Bachelors of Science in Biology and her 9-12 Comprehensive Science Teaching License.

While a member of the team, Beirne was a three-time team captain, earning several team awards, and was named to USA South All-Conference teams in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Beirne holds 14 career records and 10 single season records for the Avenging Angels including career ERA, most wins, most strikeouts looking, most shutouts, and most innings pitched. 

Beirne currently teaches science at Franklin County Schools and has taught in high schools across Durham and Wake Counties the last four years. In addition to teaching, she has coached JV and Varsity softball programs for two years. Beirne currently serves as the head coach of the 18U N.C. Challengers travel ball team and runs pitching and softball skills clinics in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
