Volleyball Competes in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. - The Meredith volleyball team traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2010 Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University. Meredith finished with a 1-3 record and MaryBeth Finegan was named to the all tournament team.
Match 1: Gallaudet 3, Meredith 0 - The host Bison took down the Avenging Angels in straight sets 25-16, 25-22, 25-16.
Match 2: Meredith 3, Sweet Briar 0 - Meredith continuing their winning ways on the season series over the Vixens, taking them in straight sets.
Match 3: Emerson 3, Meredith 2 - The Avenging Angels lost a five set heart breaker, 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 16-18.
Match 4: Catholic 3, Meredith 0 - Meredith lost 25-10, 25-13, 25-19.
Stats were not available for the writing of this article and will be posted on Monday morning.
Meredith returns to action on Wednesday as they host N.C. Wesleyan in a Dig Pink game at 7 p.m....

Soccer Opens Up With Win Over Guilford

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith (1-0) soccer team started the season off on the right foot by shutting out visiting ODAC member Guilford (0-2) 4-0.
The Avenging Angels took the 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal from Kimberly Williams at the 16:51 mark.
Meredith then added three second half goals to seal the game. Eliza Evans, Alex Calvert and Danielle Lee all scored for the Avenging Angels.
Meredith next faces Salem on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the show down between first day winners in the Meredith College Classic....
Volleyball Sweeps Philadelphia Biblical 3-0

Fayetteville, N.C. The Meredith volleyball traveled to Methodist University on Friday for their opening match against Philadelphia Biblical in the Monarch Labor Day Invitational. The Avenging Angels (1-1) swept the Crimson Eagles (2-1) 25-17, 25-23, 25-16.
Meredith was led by Leanne Burton with 10 kills, 13 assists and two block assists. Kills were provided by Cori Spade (10), Molly Markley (8) and Mallory Booker (6). Markley also had one block and three block assists. Clarke Glendenning added 11 assists.
The Avenging Angels return to action in the final day of the invitational facing Sweet Briar at noon and Agnes Scott at 4 p.m....
