    Bucklin Grand Slam Leads to 10-2 Win Over WPU; Kepley Homer Finishes Off Pacers 7-2 Thursday's USA South softball doubleheader versus Raleigh rival William Peace did not disappoint, as the Meredith College Angels swept the Pacers with help from 17 hits, eight strikeouts, and three dingers over the left field fence. Meredith leads the East Division, and WPU sits in sixth.

    Halvorson/Morse Collect USA South Weekly Honors Two Meredith College Avenging Angels earned USA South weekly honors as announced Monday from the league office. Lacrosse attack Jennifer Halvorson earned her first weekly nod as the Player of the Week, and softball's Myah Morse collected her first Rookie Pitcher of the Week selection.

    Softball Drops Pair of Heartbreakers at Salem, 7-6 (10 inn.), 3-1 The Meredith College softball Angels lost a pair of heartbreakers Saturday versus one of the USA South's newest members Salem College. Game one required three extra innings to close out 7-6 in favor of the Spirits, and game two followed with a 3-1 loss to the hosts.

    Peel Earns Nod from NFCA for Spring Break Performance Meredith College sophomore catcher Rachel Peel received a nod Wednesday from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for her performance last week during the team's spring break, eight-game road tour. The Avenging Angels posted a 5-3 record on the week with notable wins over #12 WPI and USA South Conference foe N.C. Wesleyan.

    Bucklin Leads Softball Angels in Pair of Wins at Methodist Led by Brittany Bucklin, the Meredith College softball team collected a pair of road wins at Methodist University Tuesday afternoon. Bucklin tallied four hits with four runs batted in to place the Angels atop the USA South East Division alongside Averett with William Peace, Salem, and Maryville next on the schedule.

    Annunziata/Watson Drive in Five for 11-3 Victory Over Bishops; Wesleyan Wins Second 2-1 Meredith College softball cruised past the N.C. Wesleyan Bishops 11-3 to finish early in game one of Saturday's USA South action. But the hosts responded with a 2-1 game two win to cap off the doubleheader. Maria Annunziata and Sarah Watson led Meredith with six hits and six runs batted in on the day.

    Bucklin/Watson Lead Softball in 9-1 Victory Over Simmons; Monks Slip by Angels 4-3 In Thursday's final day at Disney's Wide World of Sports, the Meredith College softball team split action starting with a 9-1, five-inning victory over the Simmons Sharks. Next, Saint Joesph's (Me.) scored three unearned runs in the top of seventh to slip past the Avenging Angels for a 4-3 win.

    Softball's Morse Earns Career Win with 9-5 Victory Over #12 WPI; Cerasi Claims 7-3 Win Over Lions During day two of a spring break series at the Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Fla., Meredith College rookie softball pitcher Myah Morse recorded her first career win 9-5 versus Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), ranked 12th in the latest Division III national poll. The Avenging Angels opened the day with a 7-3 victory over Emerson College with Julia Cerasi in the circle.

    Peel Grand Slam Leads Softball to 13-1 Victory Over Thiel; #2 Fisher Wins 7-0 During the first of three consecutive play days at Disney's Wide World of Sports Softball Complex, the Meredith College Angels earned a 13-1, five-inning win over Thiel and lost 7-0 to the St. John Fisher Cardinals, ranked second in the latest DIII national poll. Rachel Peel notched a career-high six RBIs versus the Tomcats thanks in part to a first-inning grand slam.

Rookie shortstop Kelsey Mabe went three-for-three at the plate in game two's 8-4 loss. VWC handled the Angels 9-1 in the first.

    Jackson's Win Versus Captains Recognized by NFCA Meredith College softball pitcher Taylor Jackson was recognized Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for her performance last weekend versus the visiting Christopher Newport Captains. The Avenging Angels defeated nationally-ranked CNU 5-4 in game one of the home doubleheader with Jackson in the circle.

The Captain's, ranked 16th in the NFCA's preseason poll, capped off the action with a 4-0 win in game two.

    Softball's Bucklin/Artigues Drive Three Homers in Split with Shaw The Meredith College softball team capped off a weekend doubleheader with a split in Sunday's non-conference action with Shaw University. Meredith claimed the first game 19-0 in five innings, and the Bears followed with a 5-1 decision in the nightcap. Brittany Bucklin and Eran Artigues combined for three homers and six RBIs to lead the Avenging Angels.

    Softball Picked Third in USA South Preseason Coaches Poll The Meredith College softball team was picked to finish third this season in the USA South East Division Preseason Poll as voted on by the head coaches from Averett, Ferrum, Greensboro, Methodist, Mary Baldwin, N.C. Wesleyan, and William Peace. The Wesleyan Bishops were picked to finish first in league standings, and the Ferrum Panthers placed second.

    Hatcher Represents Meredith at NCAA Convention Senior tennis player and Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Laura Anne Hatcher joined 24 other USA South student-athletes last week at the NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tenn. For the first time the conference used NCAA grant funds to send a cohort of athletes to the annual event.
