Come Back by Bishops Downs Basketball
Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Meredith basketball team dropped a conference game on Saturday. The N.C. Wesleyan Battling Bishops defeated the Avenging Angels 73-67.
Meredith (5-12, 3-8 USA South) held the 34-31 halftime lead and stretched their lead to seven with 12 minutes left to play at 47-40 on a shot by Keyanka Bailey. The game then went back and forth until the Bishops took the lead for good with 1:33 left to play. N.C. Wesleyan (9-7, 6-5) then sunk six free throws to take the 73-67 win.
Meredith was led by Bailey with 14 points. Megan Rahn had 12 points and seven rebounds. Bryana Holmes had eight rebounds to go with five points.
Meredith returns to action on Tuesday as they host Ferrum for a 7 p.m. game.
