USA South Basketball Team Announced - Rahn on First Team

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2011-12 All-Conference awards for women's basketball. A total of 31 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference team. Greensboro College's Danielle Duncan was named the Player of the Year, Christopher Newport University's Camry Green earned Rookie of the Year honors and Ferrum College's Bryan Harvey collected Coach of the Year accolades. Meredith's Megan Rahn was named to the USA South first team and is the first Avenging Angel to ever earn the honor.

Finally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school. All awards are voted on by the women's basketball coach at each institution.

Duncan, a Greensboro, North Carolina senior center, is currently ranked among the league's best in a number of categories including points per game, rebounds per game, blocks, field goals and free throws. Duncan is currently averaging 19.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.4 steals per game. She earns her fourth career all-conference honor, garnering First Team All-Conference accolades this season after collecting the same accolades the previous two seasons to go along with a second team honor following her freshman campaign. Finally, Duncan accumulated three USA South Player of the Week honors this season.

Green, a Richmond, Virginia freshman center, is currently ranked in the USA South's top-ten in the statistical categories of field goal shooting percentage, rebounds per game and blocks. She is currently averaging 8.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per contest. Green earned Honorable Mention All-Conference accolades to go along with three USA South Rookie of the Week honors this winter.

Harvey, in his seventh season as the head of the Panthers, earns is first career coach of the year honor. He becomes just the second Ferrum women's basketball coach to be named the Conference's Coach of the Year and first since the 2002-03 season. Harvey took his team to the program's third regular season title, which this year is shared with Christopher Newport and Greensboro, as the Panthers amassed a 15-3 Conference mark. Harvey takes his team into the semifinals of the USA South Women's Basketball Tournament as the top seed.

Rahn, the Raleigh native (Broughton High School) finished her career as Meredith's second place career scorer with 1,693 points. She is second in the nation in scoring average (24.2 points/game) and led the USA South in total points and scoring average. She was also second in rebounds per game in the conference. Rahn is the career leader for Meredith in rebounds (765) and three-pointers (138).

The Avenging Angels were also represented on the USA South teams as Allyson Stephenson was placed on the All-Sportsmanship squad.
