Hopper and Kahler Earn USA South Honors
Fayetteville, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released their player of the week awards on Monday. Sophomore Kelsey Hopper earned Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week while Allie Kahler took the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week honors.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Hopper, Meredith - The Wilmington, North Carolina sophomore goalkeeper earned one shutout last week as the Avenging Angels posted a 1-0-2 record. In 273 minutes, Terza allowed one goal and collected 12 saves. In a scoreless tie versus Roanoke, Hopper earned a shutout by making eight saves. In a 1-1 tie versus Piedmont, Hopper collected four saves. Finally, in a 6-0 victory over Wesleyan (GA), Hopper saw just 27 minutes of action and did not need to make a save during her time in net.
Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Allie Kahler, Meredith - The Winston Salem, North Carolina freshman midfielder scored the team's lone goal of a 1-1 tie versus Piedmont last week. In Meredith's other two contests last week, a scoreless tie versus Roanoke and a 6-0 win over Wesleyan (GA), Kahler was held scoreless.
