Tennis Leads the Way at Methodist Invitational

Fayetteville, N.C. - The Meredith tennis team started their fall season on the right foot at the Methodist Invitational over the weekend.  Puja Patel led the way as she took the #1 singles and doubles bracket with Ashley Pearsall.

Highlights of the match include Patel winning the #1 singles bracket with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Mia Winterbottom from UNC-Pembroke.  At the #2 singles spot, Mary Lawrence Newton completed a second place finish as she lost to Dana Powell from Methodist 7-5, 6-4.  In #1 doubles, Patel/Pearsall downed the pairing from Methodist 8-6.

The tennis team next heads to the ITA Regional Tournament at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. this weekend.
