Tennis Moves to 5-0 in USA South With Win Over Greensboro

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith tennis team stretched their USA South winning streak to five with a 9-0 win over Greensboro on Tuesday.

The Avenging Angels (11-3, 5-0 USA South) swept the Pride (2-7, 1-2) in both singles and doubles play. Puja Patel combined with Caroline Hunt at #1 doubles to gain an 8-1 victory and they both took their singles matches with Patel winning 6-3, 6-1 at #1 while Hunt took the 6-1, 6-0 win at #2. In #2 doubles, Ashley Pearsall and Mollie Musgrave paired up for the 8-2 victory and Miriam Cooper and Chelsie Packer took the 8-4 win at #3 doubles. The singles victories were finished up by #3 Mary Lawrence Newton winning 6-1, 6-3, #4 Betty Edwards 6-3, 6-1, #5 Musgrave 6-1, 6-0 and #6 Meg Crumpton 6-0, 6-1.

Meredith next travels back to Methodist on Thursday to finish a match that was suspended by rain.
