Tennis Stops Knights, 8-1
Raleigh, N.C. - The Avenging Angels tennis team bounced back on Friday with a 8-1 win over the visiting Knights from Southern Virginia. Meredith took all of the doubles matches and five of six in singles to secure the win. Meredith stopped the Knights' winning streak at seven with the win.
Meredith (12-4) had wins over Southern Virginia (7-2) in all three doubles matches. The #1 pairing of Puja Patel/Caroline Hunt won 8-3, #2 Betty Edwards/Mary Lawrence Newton won 8-4 while the #3 pairing of Chelsie Packer/Meg Crumpton won 8-3.
In singles, #1 Patel (6-0, 6-2), #2 Hunt (6-3, 6-2), #5 Mollie Musgrave (6-1, 6-0) and #5 Miriam Cooper (6-0, 6-0) all won easily. The other Avenging Angels win came in a close match by #3 Ashley Pearsall (6-4, 4-6, 10-4).
Meredith returns to action on Sunday as they travel to Averett for a 11 a.m. match.
