Volleyball Spikes Quakers, 3-1

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith volleyball team opened the home season with a 3-1 victory over Guilford on Wednesday night.  

The Avenging Angels took the first two sets 25-22, 25-28 and Guilford took set three 26-24 and Meredith finished off the Quakers in the fourth 25-22.  Meredith kept fighting with Guilford and pushed out the victories in the three sets to take the win.

Meredith was led by Cori Spade with 20 kills, five aces and 21 digs.  Anna Hayes had 11 kills while Molly Markley added eight.  MaryBeth Finegan and Emily Anderson both had 19 digs.  Clarke Glendenning put up 28 assists.  Meredith had six blocks compared to Guilford's four.  

The Avenging Angels next play on Saturday as they host Salem at noon and Emory & Henry at 6 p.m.
