USA South Volleyball All-Conference Teams Announced
Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2011 All-Conference awards for volleyball. A total of 34 student-athletes have been named to the All-Conference teams.
Christopher Newport University swept all the individual awards as Jessie Heavenrich was named the Player of the Year, Jessie Kolden earned Rookie of the Year honors, Abby Hogge was named Libero of the Year and their coach Lindsay Birch collected Coach of the Year accolades. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team consisting of one member from each competing school. All awards are voted on by the volleyball coach at each institution.
Meredith earned three spots on the USA South teams. Junior Cori Spade earned first team honors for her school record setting performance. Spade led Meredith and set season records with 434 kills and 4.47 kills per set. Both records were previously set by Lauren Powers in the 2006 season with 412 kills and 4.08 kills per set.
Sophomore Molly Markley earned honorable mention honors for her season in which she had 75 total blocks which is fourth place in Meredith history. Senior Rebecca Yow earned All-Sportsmanship Team honors.
