RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College alumna-athlete Emily Hendricks, '16, will join the volleyball staff this fall as the program's new assistant coach. She will work with newly appointed Interim Head Coach Kenzie Aries to lead the 2016 USA South Tournament Champion Avenging Angels.
A four-year starting outside hitter, Hendricks helped the volleyball Angels to the 2014 USA South North Division Championship and the athletics program to the 2015 USA South Women's President's Cup, perhaps the most prestigious honor for a conference school. She ranks in the top-10 all-time at Meredith in kills, kills per set, attack attempts, and block assists. During her senior season, she led the volleyball team as the fitness coordinator.
Announced in April, Aries was promoted to the head position following the shift of 10-year Head Coach Fiona Barkley to the new position of assistant athletic director for advancement and external relations, established with help from the NCAA Strategic Alliance Matching Grant.
All three Meredith athletics staff members will assume their new roles beginning August 1.
