Tennis Closes Out Season with Hard-Fought Match at Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. | Meredith tennis (1-10, 1-6 USA South) concluded their 2025 regular season on Monday afternoon, falling 7-0 to Brevard College team (8-3, 3-3 USA South) at the McCoy Tennis Complex. Despite the loss, the Avenging Angels showed grit and determination, pushing several matches deep and gaining valuable experience against a deep Brevard lineup.

INSIDE THE MATCH:
Meredith opened the match with doubles play, where Ellie Osborne and Claire Southern put together a competitive performance at the No. 1 spot. The pair held their own against Brevard's top duo but were ultimately edged out 6-3 by Hannah Hersh and Sophie Trantham. Brevard went on to claim the remaining doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3, securing the doubles point and early momentum.

In singles play, Osborne delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles. After dropping the opening set 6-4, she mounted an impressive comeback to take the second set 7-5, forcing a decisive third-set tiebreaker. In a tense finish, Osborne narrowly fell 10-8 in what proved to be one of the most thrilling matches of the day. At No. 2 singles, Claire Southern demonstrated her grit and consistency in a series of long rallies, but fell 6-3, 6-2 in a match that was closer than the score suggests. At the No. 4 spot, Hannah Jo Jablonski showed flashes of control and confidence, especially in the second set. Despite her strong push, she came up just short, falling 6-4, 6-4.

Seniors Anna Bittler, Ellie Osborne, Claire Southern, and fifth-year Hannah Jo Jablonski ended their careers with a spirited final performance, embodying the heart and leadership they've shown throughout their time as Avenging Angels.
