HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Meredith field hockey concluded its road schedule on Wednesday night, falling by a 4-1 margin at Coker in Hartsville, South Carolina.
The Cobras scored twice in the opening period and never looked back, as their stifling defense held the Avenging Angels to just one goal.
Offensively, the contest was highlighted on Meredith's side by
Megan Ingenito's team-leading 13th goal of the season. The Ridgeland, South Carolina native has now scored in seven of Meredith's past eight games. Ingenito needs four goals to match her own program record of 17 goals in a season, set in 2025.
Coker got on the board early, finding its first goal in the game's second minute before adding another to double its lead late int he first quarter.
Trailing 2-0 at the break, the Angels came out of halftime looking to regain momentum, as Ingenito's goal in the 34th minute cut their deficit in half.
However, the Cobras held the slim lead and eventually added a pair of goals to extend the margin to 4-1, where it remained.
Up next, Meredith will return home and host Sweet Briar this Saturday, October 31 at 11 a.m.
