Colleen Cassada

Colleen Cassada was named head coach of the Meredith College field hockey team in June 2022 after serving as interim head coach throughout the spring season. 

Cassada joined the Meredith College field hockey staff as a volunteer assistant coach in December 2019 and advanced to a full assistant in January 2021. She works with the head coach to build a foundation for Meredith College's newest varsity sport.

Cassada's Division I field hockey playing experience at the University of Maryland, along with her training as an umpire and coach strengthen the staff and expand the exposure for the new program.

A certified umpire since 2012, Cassada also holds accreditation as an umpire trainer. She works games for NCAA Division II, college club programs, and high schools, and annually officiates USFHA events. She also serves as a high school umpire assignor.

Cassada's coaching experience includes six years with the USFHA Futures Program as a site director. She spent five seasons as Cary Academy's head varsity coach and one as an assistant at Chapel Hill High School. Also during that time, Cassada owned and coached the Carolina Fury Club Team.

A four-year starting forward for the NCAA Division I Maryland Terrapins, Cassada earned a host of accolades, including first team All-American and Regional All-American selections. She garnered ACC Rookie of the year, All-ACC Tournament honors, and completed her collegiate eligibility with school records for career goals and points. She also played on the United States U16, U19 and U21 Junior National Teams beginning in 1999.
