Bryonne Herring was named the first-ever Head Coach of Meredith College’s flag football program in summer 2025, tasked with building and leading the Avenging Angels into their inaugural season as the College launches its newest varsity sport. Herring brings with him a decade of experience in football and athlete development.
Herring came to Meredith from SUNY Brockport, where he served as Head Coach of the Women’s Club Flag Football Team. He guided the program with a focus on player development, strategy, and communication, helping build a competitive and cohesive team culture. At Brockport, he also served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, overseeing training for all 23 NCAA Division III teams.
Before his time at Brockport, Herring held strength and conditioning leadership roles at Stevenson University, King’s College, Rochester Institute of Technology, and the University of Mount Olive. He has also coached in collegiate football programs at both Stevenson and King’s and worked with the UA Rise Youth Football League, developing fundamental skills and a love for the game among young athletes.
A USA Football Advanced Flag Football Licensed Coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS/RSCC), Herring is known for his holistic, athlete-centered approach to performance training, emphasizing growth, well-being, and on-field success.
A native of Gates, N.Y., Herring played collegiate football as a defensive back at SUNY Brockport, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2015. He went on to complete a master’s degree in strength and conditioning at LaGrange College in 2018.
Herring and his wife, Vilma, live in Clayton, North Carolina, with their four children: Bryanna, Deanna, Emyiah, and Bryonne Jr.
