Heather Brown joined Meredith College as Head Golf Coach in July 2025, bringing more than 30 years of experience in coaching, instruction, and student-athlete development. A Class A PGA Professional, Brown previously served as Director of Intercollegiate Golf and Head Women’s Golf Coach at Appalachian State University, where she was recognized for results-driven leadership, an individualized teaching approach, and a dedication to the holistic growth of her athletes.
At Appalachian State, Brown guided the women’s golf program to record-breaking success—recruiting top domestic and international talent, mentoring more than 30 Academic All-Americans, and coaching a conference champion along with two USGA qualifiers. Her teams consistently posted the highest GPA in the department and earned national recognition for their Academic Progress Rate (APR). An Appalachian State alumna herself, Brown was a standout student-athlete, serving as team captain and earning MVP honors for the women’s golf team.
Beyond the collegiate level, Brown has coached more than 1,000 golfers of all abilities as a lead instructor with Bird Golf Academy. Her philosophy centers on the belief that every golfer is unique, tailoring instruction to each player’s goals, physical abilities, and style. She emphasizes swing mechanics, short-game precision, and course strategy while instilling a lifelong love of the game.
Brown is also committed to growing the sport and using it as a platform for personal development. Through the Playground Golf Foundation, she introduced golf to underserved youth, promoting core values and life skills through in-school programs. Additionally, she served as Director of U.S. Operations and Communication Liaison for Future Planet, building recruitment pipelines and fostering cross-cultural connections between Chinese athletes and NCAA institutions.
At Meredith, Brown is eager to build a competitive and supportive program grounded in character, player development, and a passion for the game.
