Field Miller

After being hired in July 2019, Field Miller enters his eighth season as head coach of the Meredith College cross country and track & field programs in 2026.

Under Miller's leadership, Meredith has emerged as one of the premier programs in the USA South Conference, achieving unprecedented success in both cross country and track & field while earning recognition at the conference, regional, and national levels.

The cross country program has enjoyed a historic run during Miller's tenure, capturing USA South Conference Championships in 2022 and 2023 after winning the USA South East Division Championship in the spring of 2021. Miller was named USA South Coach of the Year following both conference championship seasons in 2022 and 2023.

The Avenging Angels have continued to produce standout performers under Miller's guidance. In 2025, Delaney Bundy became Meredith's second NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship qualifier and captured the USA South individual championship. Since 2019, Meredith cross country has produced an NCAA national qualifier, a conference individual champion, two USA South Rookie Runners of the Year selections, 31 All-Conference performers, three USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, and seven USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.

Miller has also overseen significant growth and success within the track & field program. Since Meredith's addition to USA South indoor track & field competition, the program has expanded its roster and increased its impact at the conference level. Under his direction, the Avenging Angels have produced an NCAA national qualifier, two USA South Athletes of the Year, four individual conference champions, 23 All-Conference honorees, two USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, and six USTFCCCA All-Academic Team awards.

Among the program's top achievements was Corinne Weaver's qualification for the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Weaver also became the program's first NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship qualifier during Miller's tenure, helping elevate Meredith's profile on the national stage.

Prior to Meredith, Miller spent four seasons as an assistant coach for the cross country and track & field programs at Pfeiffer University. During his tenure, he coached a Conference Carolinas individual champion and two NCAA Division II All-Region selections. Following Pfeiffer's transition to NCAA Division III competition, Miller helped guide the Falcons during the inaugural USA South Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2019, where three student-athletes won individual conference titles and 17 earned All-Conference honors.

Before entering collegiate coaching, Miller spent seven years at Central Academy of Technology and Arts in Monroe, North Carolina. There, he led the cross country program to four conference championships, three regional titles, a 2014 state runner-up finish, and two individual regional champions. He was named Rocky River Conference Coach of the Year five times. His indoor and outdoor track & field programs combined for multiple individual state championships, regional titles, conference champions, and more than 90 state and regional qualifiers.

A former distance runner, Miller competed in cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field at Western Carolina University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Sport Management before completing a master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.

Miller holds numerous coaching certifications, including USATF Level 1, USATF Level 2 Endurance, USTFCCCA Level 2 Sprints, Hurdles and Relays, USTFCCCA Level 3 Middle Distance, and the USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning Certification.

Miller resides in Apex, North Carolina, with his wife, Catherine, and daughter, Olivia.
