  • King, '19, Named Assistant Soccer Coach

    Meredith College alumnae-athlete Kirstie King was recently named the new assistant soccer coach. She will work alongside Head Coach Jen Grubb, who assumed her role in January 2019.
  • Fifty-Two Angels Earn All-Academic; Fourteen with Distinction

    The USA South Conference awarded fifty-two Meredith College Avenging Angels All-Academic honors as announced recently from the league office. Fourteen Angels received a "With Distinction" notation due to exceptional academic success.
  • Avenging Angels Celebrate Yearlong Successes

    Meredith College Athletics Director Jackie Myers hosted the Annual Athletics Awards Ceremony Wednesday, May 1, to recognize student-athletes with academic and athletic honors. Junior volleyball player Samantha Smith collected the program's Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse midfielder Holly Hite garnered the Athlete of the Year.

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers announced the installation of Jen Grubb as the new Avenging Angels head soccer coach. Grubb coached two seasons with Meredith as an assistant and assumed the reins with the turn of the New Year.
  • King Honored as All-State Defender

    Meredith College senior defender Kirstie King collected her second All-State women's soccer honor as a member of this year's North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association College Division second team. King closed out her four-year career after leading her team to the second round of USA South Tournament action.
  • Soccer Tournament Run Ends Early

    The Meredith College soccer team closed out the 2018 season with a 5-1 loss to the host Maryville Scots in Saturday afternoon's USA South quarterfinal action. After knocking off the East Division's fourth-seed Cougars earlier in the week, the fifth-seed Avenging Angels were paired with the West's top-seed Scots.

    The Meredith College soccer Angels advanced to the USA South Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinals after out shooting the host Averett Cougars 5-3 in penalty kicks in Wednesday night's 0-0 overtime draw. The East Division's fifth-seed Angels will travel to Maryville, Tennessee, to face off with the West's top-seeded Scots in a Saturday afternoon contest.

    Meredith College goalie Miranda Lutz earned the USA South Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week nod as announced Monday from the league office. This marks the freshman's first conference honor.

    Saturday night's overtime draw at Methodist University leaves the Meredith College soccer Angels in sixth place in USA South East Division standings at the close of the regular season. Since Pfeiffer remains ineligible for postseason play while still in transition to Division III, the East fifth-seed Avenging Angels travel to Averett Wednesday, Oct. 24, to face off with the East Division's fourth-seed Cougars.

    Jessica Wallace scored both goals in Tuesday night's 2-1 win between Meredith College and the visiting Emory & Henry Wasps. Her second goal came in the second minute of a sudden victory overtime period to finish off the match.

    The Meredith College soccer Angels dropped the season opener 2-0 to the Berry Vikings in Friday night's neutral site contest. The Avenging Angels face off with the host Sewanee Tigers tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Puett Field.
  • Angels Soccer Selected to Finish Third in USA South East

    Meredith College was selected to finish third in the USA South East Division as announced in the recent coaches poll. Head Coach Paul Smith, entering his 17th season with the Avenging Angels, will prepare his team for a fifth consecutive run at a Division title. All-State and All-Conference first team selection Kirstie King returns to lead the effort as a fourth-year Meredith defender.
