CARY, N.C. -- Meredith College soccer's Lillian Fox scored two goals Tuesday night to lead the Angels past USA South rival William Peace. The win marks the fourth consecutive for the Avenging Angels as the conference tournament approaches.
The Pacers scored first on a solo attempt from Kyra Delaney in the 33rd minute and held onto the 1-0 advantage through the first 45 minutes of play.
Fox put the Avenging Angels on the board nine minutes into the second half. She intercepted a ball up the middle and found her way to the box. The second Angels goal came in the 76th minute when Fox recovered a blocked shot and punted high into the corner for the lead and eventual game winner.
Meredith ramped up their offense in the second half, outshooting the Pacers 9-2 with eight corner opportunities on the night. Miranda Lutz returned to the goal for the Avenging Angels tonight and posted four saves in her second win on the season.
Kasey Wilkins and Abigail Mosteller split time in goal for Peace to earn a combined six saves on the night.
Meredith returns to their home turf Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest versus conference rival Methodist University. Head Coach Jen Grubb and her team will celebrate seniors Hannah Elvington and Madison Gladwell prior to the first kick.
