MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Freshman Corrine Weaver set a new all-time Meredith College record to lead the Avenging Angels in Saturday's NCAA South/Southeast Regional meet hosted by Rhodes College at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tenn.

The Avenging Angels placed 23rd out of 33 teams and finished third among USA South programs ahead of Maryville and Covenant. Washington & Lee led the field with 36 points, and the Emory Eagles followed with 85.

Weaver finished 44th with a time of 23:30.1 to land atop of the college leader board. Julie Tonon climbed three spots on the top-25 list with a time of 24:45.8, and Michelle Gladdis moved up 10 spots to 12th. With a time of 26:24.4, Rachel Hill moved into 24th with her career best.

Mitxi Ortiz and Francie Overman set a pair of personal bests finishing fifth and sixth for MCXC, and freshman Emily Ward followed as the seventh qualifier for the Angels.

Without a graduating senior on the Meredith squad, the future looks bright for the Avenging Angels under the direction of the college's third cross country coach Field Miller.
