Field Miller

After being hired in July 2019, Field Miller enters his 7 th season at the helm of Meredith College Cross Country/Track & Field.

Since taking over in 2019, the Cross Country program has seen remarkable milestones. In 2021, Miller led the Avenging Angels Cross Country to the USA South East Division Championship. Following it up with wins at the 2022 and 2023 USA South Cross Country Championships while being named USA South Coach of the Year on both
occasions. In 2021 Corrine Weaver became the first Meredith Avenging Angel to qualify for the NCAA DIII Cross Country National Championships. Since 2019 the Cross Country Avenging Angels have seen 1 NCAA National Qualifier, 2 USTFCCCA All-Region, 2 USA South Rookie of the Year, 35 USA South All-Conference, all while being
named USTFCCCA All-Academic teams in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

On the Track Miller has led the Avenging Angels just as remarkable. With the addition of Indoor Track to the USA South Conference in 2024, Miller has accelerated the growth in the size of the Track & Field team. Since 2019 the Track & Field Avenging Angels have seen 1 NCAA National Qualifier (Corrine Weaver – 2023 – 3000M Steeple Chase), 1 USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week, 9 USTFCCCA All-Region, 2 USA South Track & Field Athlete of the Year, 9 USA South Conference Champions, 8 USA South Conference Track & Field Records, 39 USA South All-Conference, and USTFCCCA All-Academic teams in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025

Prior to Meredith College, Miller served four seasons as the Cross Country/Track & Field assistant coach at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC. During his tenure with the NCAA Division II program, which began a transition to Division III in 2016, Miller coached one Conference Carolina's individual Champion and two DII All-Region selections. During the USA South's first Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship in 2019, three of Miller's student-athletes earned individual championships, while 17 garnered All-Conference honors as medal winners in their events.

Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Miller spent seven years at Central Academy of Technology and Arts in Monroe, NC. He directed the Cross Country Cougars to 4 Conference titles, 3 Regional titles, 2014 State Runner-Up, and 2 individual Regional Champions. He was named Rocky River Coach of the Year on 5 occasions. His indoor track & field teams garnered four individual State Championships with 22 state qualifiers. The Central Academy outdoor program earned four individual state titles, 9 individual regional championships with 14 conference  champions and 68 regional qualifiers.

Miller competed as a distance runner at NCAA Division I WCU in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track & field. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology at Western Carolina University with a minor in Sport Management. He went on to earn a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. He currently
holds certifications for USATF Level 1, USATF Level 2 Endurance, USTFCCCA Level 2

Sprints, Hurdles, Relays, USTFCCCA Level 3 Middle Distance, and USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning Certification.

Miller resides in Apex, NC with his wife Catherine Miller and daughter Olivia.
