RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith soccer program hosted Methodist University Tuesday night in a USA South showdown earning a 1-1 draw at the Meredith Track & Field Complex.
Methodist came into the match with a 5-1-0 USA South record before the Angels gave the Monarchs their first draw in conference play. Meredith sits at 4-3-6 with a 3-1-3 conference record.
The Monarchs struck first in the 31st minute and took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. The Angels scored just six minutes into the second half as freshman
Haley Vazquez dribbled through multiple Monarch defenders and sent a rocket into the top right corner for the equalizer.
Meredith relied heavy on fifth year senior goal keeper
Kasey Wilkins who tallied 10 saves in goal and became a brick wall in the second half.
The Avenging Angels travel to Greensboro College on Friday for a 7 p.m. kick.
