RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith Field Hockey program dropped an overtime heartbreaker Saturday afternoon 3-2 against Sewanee. The Angels wore ribbons and socks for their annual Morgans Message game.
Two first quarter goals from Sewanee set the tone as it took a while for the Angels offense to get rolling.
Meredith cut into the lead when sophomore
Meika Olsen scored off an assist from freshman
Megan Ingenito. The Angels trailed 2-1 at the halftime break.
Ingenito was not done yet as she was able to tie the game in the third erasing the two goal deficit. A scoreless fourth period sent the teams into a sudden death overtime.
Unfortunately, Sewanee found the back of the goal in the second overtime to claim the victory. They out shot the Angels 25-10 while both teams earned 10+ penalty corner chances.
Junior
Shae-Lynn Henderson tallied 20 saves in goal for the Angels.
Meredith is back in action on Oct. 13th at Neumann with a start time of 4 p.m.
