RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith Field Hockey program hosted family and friends Sunday afternoon for family weekend and welcomed highly talented Randolph Macon College at the Meredith Track & Field Complex. The Angels fell 5-0 on a rainy afternoon.
"It was an exciting day for our team," head coach
Colleen Cassada said. "We had our annual family day tailgate and welcomed back several of our alumni. I'm proud of how we played having held Randolph-Macon to only two goals through 45 minutes of play. Being in the game for that long against the No. 4 team in the ODAC speaks volumes for how far we've come as a program."
Hanging around in the game is just what the Angels did. Meredith held Randolph Macon scoreless in the first period and only trailed 1-0 at the halftime break. The Yellow Jackets tacked on three goals in the final period of action to pull away.
Junior
Shae-Lynn Henderson tallied 21 saves in goal for the Angels while freshman
Megan Ingenito earned a team-high three shots putting two of those on goal. The Angels produced four penalty corners but were not able to capitalize.
Meredith is right back in action at home this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. when they host Virginia Wesleyan.
