Sweet Briar, Va. - The Meredith Field Hockey program feel short 2-1 against Sweet Briar Saturday afternoon.
The Angels grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first quarter off their first corner of the game. Freshman
Charlotte Dyer found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore
Sierra Grande.
"Playing on a new surface in a tropical storm was one for the story books," head coach
Colleen Cassada said. "I'm proud of how strong they came out scoring off the first corner of the game which is something bc we've been wanting to capitalize on. It was a tough back and forth battle today and we just came up short."
Both teams earned three corners each but the Vixens out shot the Angels 12-8. Sweet Briar scored in the second and third quarters to regain the lead and earn the win.
Junior
Shae-Lynn Henderson had six saves in goal.
The Angels travel to Ferrum this upcoming Wednesday for a 6 p.m. start. They beat the Panthers 2-1 earlier this season.
