Raleigh, N.C. - Meredith Field Hockey took on the Cobras of Coker University for their final home game of the 2024 season on Tuesday October 22nd. The Angels dedicated this game to their community and saw support from staff, family, friends and local youth field hockey players.
How it Happened:
The Angels caught the Cobras on their heels when the first whistle blew and entered the circle quickly. Coker managed to keep the Angels at bay and returned fire on the Meredith Defense. Despite holding the Cobra's to a game low of eight shots in the first quarter, they were able to take a 0-2 lead on the Angels going into the second quarter.
Shae-Lynn Henderson led the Meredith Defense in keeping out the Cobra's in the second period. Coker sent a game high 18 shots towards the cage but couldn't get past the Angels to extend their lead. Henderson tallied a game high 12 saves before entering the half.
Coker was able to find the back of the net in the third quarter, recording three more goals to hold a five goal advantage over the Angels.
Meredith started to regain momentum with a strong offensive effort from
Marissa Tilgner and
Charlotte Dyer as they were able to put up two shots and draw a corner in the final 15 minutes of play. However the Cobra's wouldn't crack and managed to keep the Angels out to end the game 0-5.
