RALEIGH, NC – The Meredith College Avenging Angels showed resilience, but fell to USA South opponent Pfeiffer University, 63-47. Despite a tough second half, the Angels battled through the game, leaving it all on the court.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading leads and staying within striking distance. Meredith entered halftime down by just one point, 31-30, after a hard-fought first 20 minutes.
However, the second half proved to be a challenge as Pfeiffer's defense took control. Despite holding a 32-31 lead early in the third quarter, the Avenging Angels couldn't stop a 7-0 run by the Falcons, and Meredith was unable to regain the lead.
Rylie Wade continued her standout performances, scoring 11 points and pulling down 21 rebounds, earning yet another double-double. Danae Hawkins also contributed 11 points, while Pam Mock chipped in 10 points and added 5 steals, showcasing her all-around effort on both ends of the floor.
The Avenging Angels will be back in action on Sunday, December 8, when they host non-conference opponent Centre College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
