Kissimmee, Fl. - The Meredith softball program took down the University of Southern Maine 4-1 before falling 4-3 against Salem State University on day two of their spring games.
In the 4-1 win against Southern Maine, graduate senior
Hannah Weigle earned a complete game victory only giving up one earned run with three strikeouts.
At the plate for the Angels, senior
Savannah Talley, junior
Rheanne Burden, and sophomore
Mariah Bell all had two-hit games. Bell added an RBI along with sophomore
Lillie Davis while fellow sophomore
Avery Puryear earned two RBIs.
The Angels dropped a heartbreaker in game two as Salem State walked it off in the bottom of the seventh. Puryear had a two-hit game with an RBI which tied the game in the top of the seventh for the Angels. Davis only gave up one earned run through five innings of work in the circle.
Meredith is back in action for their last two games on spring break on Friday when they take on Hamline University at 10 a.m. followed by the University of New England at 12:30 p.m.
