Lacrosse earns non-conference win over Aurora

RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith lacrosse picked up an 11-9 non-conference win over Aurora University Thursday afternoon at the Meredith Track & Field Complex.

The Angels (2-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Spartans (1-3) cut the lead to just one at the end of the first quarter. Meredith kept the momentum rolling in the second quarter and took a 6-3 lead into halftime.

Aurora would not go away quietly outscoring the Angels 6-5 in the second half, but the Angels fended them off just long enough to earn the win.

Sophomore Brooke Blades and freshman Kenzie Todd both posted four goals leading the attack. Junior Lauryn Turner had two goals with two assists while senior Arrianna May tallied two assists with a goal.

Meredith forced 21 turnovers with immense pressure on the defensive end. Freshman Katherine Couch earned three caused turnovers along with three draw controls. In goal, senior Madeline Horrell tallied six saves with three groundballs.

Meredith is back in action on March 13th when they battle Eastern Connecticut State in Panama City, Fl. at 4 p.m.
