Fayetteville, N.C. - The Meredith lacrosse program rolled past Piedmont University 18-6 Thursday afternoon in the USA South Semi-Finals earning a spot in the USA South Championship.
The Angels scored three goals in the first two minutes of the game jumping out on the Lions early. Meredith continued that momentum and carried a 10-0 lead into the second quarter.
Meredith led 12-2 at halftime as Piedmont was able to hold the Angels to just four goals combined in the second and third quarters before they posted four in the fourth to seal it.
Piedmont turned the ball over 24 times as the Angels caused 11 of those. Meredith also went 16-18 on clears holding the Lions to 10-22.
Junior
Ava Spradley netted a career-high five goals to lead the attack while freshman
Kenzie Todd added three goals and three assists. Both players also caused two turnovers while Spradley earned six draw controls to lead the team.
Sophomore
Reese Walker picked up two goals with an assist and caused two turnovers. Senior
Madeline Horrell earned five saves in net for the Angels.
Meredith will take on Methodist in Monarch Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the USA South Tournament Title and an NCAA Tournament bid on the line. The Angels are going for their 10th Tournament Championship in a row.
