RALEIGH, N.C. | Meredith College basketball fell 65-43 to Brevard on Saturday afternoon. Despite trailing early, the Angels scored 32 points in the second and third quarters to cut into the deficit. Brevard found their rhythm on offense in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 points to secure the victory.
Rylie Wade posted a double-double in the loss, putting up 14 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

"I am proud of our team's collective effort on both ends of the floor against a very strong opponent. This was a tough shooting night for us and ultimately led to the scoring droughts in the fourth that were hard to overcome. We will use this as fuel to go back to work and get better as we move forward in conference play."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Brevard started the game with four baskets in a row before Pam Mock made a jumper to put the Angels on the board. The Tornados closed out the first frame on a 7-2 run to go up 15-6
- Meredith found their rhythm on offense midway through the second quarter. The Angels went on an 11-3 run. Danae Hawkins drove the lane, made the layup through contact, and completed the three-point play at the free-throw line. Rylie Wade had a strong quarter for Meredith, scoring six points.
- Brevard led 28-21 at the break
- The Angels started the third with four straight baskets, quickly cutting into the deficit. Rylie Wade opened the frame with a layup, Kylie Wade hit back-to-back jumpers, and Hawkins nailed a three. Hawkin's triple gave Meredith their first lead of the afternoon, 30-28. Naliyah Boyce came up with the response for Brevard, nailing two jumpers and a layup to retake the lead 36-32, with five and a half minutes left in the quarter. Both sides traded successful free throws in the final minutes and Brevard took a six point lead, 44-38 into the final ten minutes.
- Brevard went on an 11-0 run in the opening minutes of the last quarter and didn't look back. Rylie and Kylie Wade each scored two points in the final ten minutes. Late in the game, Athena Mowatt drew a foul and made her ensuing free throw. Meredith fought hard to the very end, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Tornado's 21-point frame.
