Raleigh, N.C. — Meredith College soccer struck first but couldn't hold the lead in a 2–1 loss to Salem (N.C.) on Saturday morning at the Meredith Track and Field Complex. The match marked Senior Night for defender Ellie Hanson, who was honored pregame for her leadership and dedication to the program. The Avenging Angels came out with strong energy and control, but Salem rallied in the second half to take the win.
First Half
Meredith opened the match aggressively, creating several early chances through Emma Jolliff and Lucy Miller. In the 30th minute, Jenna Underwood capitalized on the pressure, slotting home a pass from Jolliff to give the Angels a 1–0 lead. Salem found the equalizer in the 37th minute to even the score 1–1 heading into halftime.
Second Half
