Box Score Sewanee, Tenn. Puett Field – The Meredith College field hockey team opened their travel play in Tennessee with a strong 7–3 victory over Transylvania University on Sunday afternoon, hosted by Sewanee. The Avenging Angels showcased balanced offense and composure throughout the match, with six different players contributing to scoring plays.
How It Happened:
Meredith wasted no time getting on the board, striking first just over two minutes into the match when Megan Ingenito scored off a setup from Charlotte Dyer. Moments later, the Angels doubled their lead on a well-executed penalty corner. Marissa Tilgner inserted to Sophia Frez who fired the initial shot, and Lydia Smith tipped it in for the second goal to make it 2–1.
In the second quarter, Dyer extended the lead to 3–1 after converting off a pass from Ingenito, sending Meredith into halftime with momentum.
Transylvania battled back in the third quarter with two goals to narrow the gap, but Meredith quickly regained control. Ingenito responded with her second goal of the game to halt the Pioneers' push, and Dyer followed with her second score off an assist from Maya Kirstein, making it 5–3 heading into the fourth.
The Angels sealed the win late as Ingenito completed her hat trick on a feed from Dyer, and Kirstein capped the scoring with the final goal to secure the 7–3 victory.
