Meredith Athletics Welcomes Chase Strawser as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

RALEIGH, N.C. -  Meredith College Athletics has added Chase Strawser to its Athletic Communications staff, as Strawser joins the Avenging Angels as an assistant in the department.

With experience spanning athletic communications, broadcasting, game day operations and multimedia production, Strawser brings a wide-ranging background in sports media to Meredith.

"I want to thank Joseph Garwood and Fiona Barkley for giving me the opportunity to join Meredith Athletics," Strawser said. "I'm excited to be part of an amazing department and contribute to its success.

"Meredith is a great place, and I'm looking forward to working with our student athletes and helping tell their stories."

Strawser is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Leadership at Campbell University. He is a 2025 graduate of Elon University, where he earned bachelor's degrees in Sport Management and Journalism, along with minors in Professional Writing Studies and Leadership Studies. During his time at Elon, he served as Co-Executive Director of Rising Phoenix, a student-led multimedia organization that worked alongside the university's athletic communications department.

His experience at Elon also included work with Elon Sports Vision as a broadcaster, as well as serving as a team manager and communications assistant for the women's lacrosse program.

Strawser has also gained experience across multiple levels of the sports industry through internships with the NWSL's North Carolina Courage, World Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse. Most recently, he led game day communications and statistics operations for the Carolina Blaze of the AUSL during the team's inaugural season in Durham.

"We are thrilled to add Chase's versatility and broadcasting acumen to our athletic communications department," said Director of Athletic Communications Joseph Garwood. "His professionalism and passion for storytelling stood out and he will undoubtedly add to the success of our department."

In addition to his communications experience, Strawser brings more than five years of broadcasting experience, having called games for various collegiate programs across ESPN+, FloSports and other platforms.

At Meredith, Strawser will assist with all aspects of the Athletic Communications Office, including broadcasting, statistics, game operations, social media and website management.

As he begins his time with the Avenging Angels, Strawser will help Meredith Athletics continue to showcase its student-athletes and teams while telling the stories that make the department and its community unique.
