Meredith Battles Hard, Falls Short to Randolph-Macon

RALEIGH, N.C. | Meredith College Lacrosse fell 16-11 to Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon. Randolph Macon dominated in the draw circle all game and penalties throughout hindered the Avenging Angels. It was a close game until the fourth quarter when the Yellowjackets scored six goals to pull away.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Randolph Macon got a steal immediately after Meredith collected the opening draw. The turnover led to Cami McNeally scoring the first goal of the game. Lauryn Turner responded for Meredith on the next possession. She got the ball and made a hard cut to the middle, evaded one defender, and buried it in the back of the net to tie the game at one.
  • Kenzie Todd found Reese Walker for the go-ahead goal. Later in the quarter, Sophie LeClaire picked up a yellow card and the Yellow Jackets capitalized, scoring a man up goal to tie the game at two. Todd found the back of the net for the final goal of the quarter as Meredith took the 3-2 lead.
  • LT scored twice for the Avenging Angels in the second. The Yellowjackets found a rhythm on offense, netting four goals in the quarter to take the 6-4 advantage into the break.
  • Meredith opened the third quarter with two goals, but Randolph-Macon answered with two of their own. Morgan Hall went coast to coast for her lone goal of the game and the Angels sixth. Turner tallied her fourth goal of the game with 4:11 left in the quarter, which tied the game at eight. Evie and Cami McNeally scored the last two goals of the quarter to put the Yellowjackets ahead 10-8 going into the last frame.
  • Randolph-Macon outscored Meredith 6-3 in the fourth to secure the 16-11 win.
  • The Yellowjackets dominated draw controls, 22-7 led by Elaina Creekmore, who had six.
  • Cami McNeally led Randolph-Macon, scoring five goals and tallying one assist for six points.
  • In the loss, Lauryn Turner had 4 goals and an assist for five points.
  • Reese Walker and Kenzie Todd each had two goals and an assist.
