Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Meredith Tennis Bested by NC Wesleyan

RALEIGH, N.C. | Meredith fell to USA South opponent N.C. Wesleyan 7-0 on Tuesday. Although Meredith faced a challenging outing, there were a few bright spots in the singles play, particularly from Claire Southerns and Anna Bittler.

INSIDE THE MATCH
The match started with a dominant performance from N.C. Wesleyan in doubles, where they took all three matches. The duo of Renata Torres and Bethan Fothergill easily triumphed over Meredith's Ellie Osborne and Claire Southerns, 6-1, while Andrea Elaez Miranda and Ivanna Torres sealed a 6-0 victory over Jo Jablonski and Cate Reilly in #2 doubles. The third doubles match followed the same trend, as Linda Nhiwatiwa and M. Guzman Gonzalez finished with a 6-0 win against Kate Jackson and Anna Bittler.

In singles play, N.C. Wesleyan continued to dominate, with wins in all six positions. Meredith's Claire Southerns, who has shown resilience this season, fought hard against Bethan Fothergill in the #2 singles match. Despite a tough 6-2, 6-2 defeat, Southerns' performance was commendable.

Anna Bittler also showed strong determination despite a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Ajla Selimovic in the #5 singles match. While the result didn't go in her favor, Bittler's perseverance throughout the match did not go unnoticed.

As for the rest of the team, Meredith faced tough competition across all singles positions. Ellie Osborne was swept 6-0, 6-0 by Andrea Elaez Miranda in the #1 singles, while Cate Reilly, Hannah Jo Jablonski, and Kate Jackson each fell in straight sets as well.
