GREENSBORO, N.C. – Meredith College volleyball fell to the Guilford College Quakers 3-1 (17-25, 14-25, 25-14, 18-25) Tuesday night in Greensboro. With the result, Meredith moves to 3-2 on the season, while Guilford improves to 4-1.
After a long weekend on the road, the Avenging Angels had a quick turnaround and fought hard in the midweek matchup. Guilford jumped ahead early, taking the first two sets, but Meredith responded with an impressive 25-14 third-set victory. Despite the rally, the Quakers closed out the fourth set to secure the match.
Caitlyn Russell led the Avenging Angels with 11 kills and posted her second double-double of the season with 21 digs. Sara Dees and Daven Brabble added seven kills each to strengthen the offense.
Defensively, libero Megan Murray anchored the back row with a season-high 20 digs, keeping the Angels in several key rallies throughout the night.
Meredith returns home this weekend to host the Raleigh Invitational. The Avenging Angels open play Friday at 3:00 p.m. against Maryville, followed by a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Averett.
