Meredith Triumphs Over Eastern Mennonite in Road Game Matchup

Cambria Chandler

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Meredith College field hockey was on the road Saturday, September 20th, to face Eastern Mennonite in an afternoon matchup. Despite a lighting delay, that lasted an hour, the Angels were able to secure a victory by the score of 3-0.

How it Happened:
The Avenging Angels quickly set the tone of the game when Maya Kirstein found the back of the net with an assist from Megan Ingenito. Meredith only allowed one shot the entire quarter from the Royals. The first quarter ended with the 1-0 score in favor of 1-0 Meredith.

The game had a bit of a stalemate in the second quarter for goal scoring, but Meredith was still able to make achievements with a game-high shot count of nine. The lighting delay took place in the last minute of the frame, resulting in an hour delay.

In the third quarter, Meredith came back motivated and denied the Royals any offensive shots, but Ingenito scored the second goal of the game, with the teams headed into the last quarter separated by a 2-0 margin.

Meredith did not let up in its attack and continued to hold its ground defensively. The Avenging Angels tallied four more shots with Ingenito scoring the third and final goal of the game the Avenging Angels.
