Meredith Field Hockey Soars Past Goucher in Dominant Performance

Score: Meredith 3, Goucher 1

BALTIMORE, Md. – Meredith College Field Hockey packed their bags for an overnight weekend in Baltimore Maryland to face off against Goucher College and McDaniel College. Saturday, September 6th, Meredith took on Goucher for the third time in program history and walked away with their first victory against the Gophers.

How it Happened:
?    The Angels hit their stride early in the opening quarter, notching their first corner just one minute into the game. Megan Ingenito collected the insert pass and found teammate Meika Olsen set up in front of the goalie. Olsen, with a perfect tip, found the back of the net just 1:47 into the match to end the first quarter, Meredith 1-0.
?    Meredith continued to put the Gophers on their heels in the second quarter, putting up another 12 shots on the Goucher defense to bring the combined team shot total to 19 for the half. With only four minutes left before halftime, Maya Kirstein made a statement when she sent a rocket past the Gophers to extend Meredith's lead to 2-0.
?    Despite the Angels dominance in the first half, the Gophers weren't going down without a fight. After a battle for control in the Meredith circle, Goucher was able to bring the match back to a one goal game, securing the shot from a rebound off of Jasmin Solar before heading into the final 15 minutes of play. Meredith 2 - Goucher 1.
?    Meredith quickly answered Goucher in the fourth quarter with a goal by Megan Ingenito. Ingenito capitalized off a pass from the top of the circle by Lydia Smith to regain the two goal lead only three minutes into the period. Meredith's defense locked down and kept the Gophers' final jabs at bay, securing the Angel's second straight win of the season with a 3-1 final score.
