Raleigh, N.C. — The Meredith College women's lacrosse team has been selected as No. 1 in the USA South Conference Preseason Coaches Poll heading into the 2026 season, earning top recognition from the league's coaches.
The Avenging Angels' preseason ranking reflects the program's continued success and consistency within the conference. Meredith enters the season as the defending conference champions and looks to build on its long-standing tradition of excellence.
Head coach Lauren Scott welcomed the honor while emphasizing the team's mindset moving forward.
"It's an honor to be recognized by our peers as the conference season favorite heading into 2026. #1 is honestly exactly where our players and coaches expected to be and we've been working hard to prove why every day at practice," Scott said. "We've got a lot of returning and new talent and I can guarantee we won't be outworked."
With a strong mix of veteran leadership and new contributors, Meredith will open the season with high expectations as it aims to defend its conference title and continue its dominance in the USA South.
