Meredith Battles Pfeiffer in USA South Matchup

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Meredith College basketball team continued USA South Conference play on Tuesday evening, falling 75–50 to Pfeiffer University. The Avenging Angels showed toughness throughout the contest, battling on the glass and receiving solid contributions across the lineup.

Meredith stayed competitive early, trading baskets in the opening quarter before Pfeiffer built a 33–23 advantage at halftime. The Falcons used a strong third quarter to extend their lead, but Meredith continued to fight through all four periods.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Meredith totaled 37 rebounds, including 15 offensive boards, creating multiple second-chance opportunities.
  • Meredith showed offensive flashes in the third and fourth quarters but was unable to overcome Pfeiffer's balanced scoring attack.
  • Meredith played with balance offensively, with eight players recording points.
     

KEY PERFORMANCES

Molly Zuburg led Meredith with a team-high 12 points, knocking down two three-pointers and dishing out a game-best six assists while playing all 40 minutes. Jaymie Bevins anchored the paint, pulling down a team-high eight rebounds and adding a block on the defensive end. Emme Baber and Skyler Setzer each added eight points, with Setzer connecting from beyond the arc. Leanna Nohs contributed across the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Off the bench, Emma Roche scored six points on efficient shooting, while Avery Lackland added five points and five steals in 18 minutes.

FINAL NOTES

Meredith continues to gain valuable experience in conference play and will look to build on its defensive effort and rebounding strength as the Avenging Angels prepare for their next USA South matchup when they travel to Greensboro on January 10th.
