SWANNANOA, N.C. – Meredith College women's basketball dropped a road contest at Warren Wilson College on Sunday evening, falling 72–64 at DeVries Athletic Gymnasium.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
The Avenging Angels battled throughout the contest but were unable to overcome a strong second and third quarter push by the Owls. Warren Wilson held a 19–13 advantage after the first quarter and took a 42–31 lead into halftime. The hosts extended the margin in the third quarter, outscoring Meredith 23–15.
Meredith responded with a strong finish, holding Warren Wilson to just seven points in the fourth quarter while scoring 18 of their own, but the comeback effort came up short.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Skyler Setzer led Meredith with 14 points and seven rebounds, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Leanna Nohs added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Molly Zuburg contributed 11 points and seven rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
Emma Roche provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and six rebounds, and Emme Baber chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
FINAL NOTES
Meredith finished the game shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 76.5 percent from the free throw line. The Avenging Angels totaled 39 rebounds, scored 30 points in the paint, and added 10 second-chance points. Meredith also forced 17 turnovers and received 16 points from the bench.
Meredith will return to action as conference play continues later this week at home versus William Peace.
