Angels Effort Comes Up Short in USA South Tournament Opener

BREVARD, N.C. – The Meredith College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close Monday night with an 83–61 loss to host Brevard College in the opening round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament at Boshamer Gymnasium.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Meredith came out strong and held a two-point lead after the first quarter before taking a one-point advantage into halftime. The Avenging Angels battled on the glass and shared the scoring load to keep the contest tight through the opening 20 minutes.

Brevard created separation in the third quarter behind a hot shooting stretch from beyond the arc, knocking down six three-pointers in the period. The Tornados used that momentum to pull away and maintain control the rest of the way.

KEY PERFORMANCES

Skyler Setzer led Meredith with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers. Emme Baber finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Molly Zuberg added 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Jaymie Bevins controlled the paint with 11 rebounds and two blocks.

FINAL NOTES

Meredith shot 39.7 percent from the field and scored 30 points in the paint, adding 15 second-chance points. The Avenging Angels wrap up the 2025–26 season with a USA South Conference Tournament appearance, gaining valuable postseason experience and momentum to build on heading into the offseason.
