RALEIGH, N.C. – Meredith College lacrosse delivered a commanding performance on Friday afternoon, overwhelming Illinois Wesleyan, 24-1, at the Meredith College field. The Avenging Angels improve to 6-2 overall with the decisive win.
Game Highlights
Meredith wasted no time asserting control, exploding for 10 goals in the opening quarter and never looking back. The Avenging Angels followed with a 7-goal second period to take a 17-1 lead into halftime.
The offensive momentum continued in the second half, with Meredith adding five goals in the third and two more in the fourth to cap off the dominant 24-1 victory.
Meredith controlled every facet of the game, outshooting Illinois Wesleyan 50-7 and holding a 33-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Angels also dominated possession with 18 draw controls and forced 21 turnovers while committing just nine of their own.
Key Performances
Reese Walker led the offensive charge with a game-high six goals and two assists, finishing with eight points. Kenzie Todd also had a standout performance, tallying four goals and four assists for eight points while adding six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Mia Frick added three goals, while Bailey Swails contributed a hat trick of her own with three goals and three draw controls. Logan Campbell and Gabrielle Romano each chipped in two goals, with Romano scoring twice in the final minute of the first half.
Reagan Amiott added two goals, and Lily Westbrook recorded a goal and two assists. Paige Mathews also found the back of the net in the third quarter.
Defensively, Meredith was just as strong. The Angels held Illinois Wesleyan to only seven total shots and three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Delaney Posehn earned the win with three saves in a complete-game effort.
