The Meredith College tennis team fell to Roanoke College, 8-1, on Saturday in non-conference action.

Roanoke secured an early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Avenging Angels' pairs of Cate Reilly and Molly Zuburg, Zoe Jones and Coley Dyer, and Jayla Kearney with Maya Kirstein each battled but came up short as Roanoke claimed the doubles point.

In singles play, Meredith found its lone victory at the No. 4 position. Molly Zuburg delivered a strong performance, defeating Victoria Rios in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, to earn the Angels' point of the match.

Cate Reilly competed at No. 1 singles, falling 6-2, 6-3, while Zoe Jones (No. 2), Jayla Kearney (No. 3), Coley Dyer (No. 5), and Maya Kirstein (No. 6) each faced tough Roanoke opponents in straight-set losses.

Despite the final score, Meredith showed resilience throughout the lineup, highlighted by Zuburg's win and competitive stretches in multiple matches.

The Avenging Angels will look to bounce back in their next outing as they continue their spring schedule.
