The USA South Athletic Conference has announced the final 2025-26 Presidents Cup standings following the conclusion of the athletic year, with Meredith College earning a second-place finish in the Women's Presidents Cup standings—its highest finish since the 2018-19 season.
The Avenging Angels put together a strong year across multiple sports, continuing to build momentum throughout the department and reinforcing Meredith's place as one of the conference's top women's athletics programs.
Southern Virginia University claimed the Women's Presidents Cup for the fifth consecutive season, while Pfeiffer University captured the Men's Presidents Cup. Southern Virginia also secured the Overall Presidents Cup title.
The USA South Presidents Cup recognizes the top overall athletic programs in the conference through a points-based system that rewards regular season finishes, conference tournament success, and individual championship performances. Institutions earn points based on their finish in each sport, with bonus points awarded for conference tournament championships, runner-up finishes, and select individual accomplishments.
For Meredith, the second-place finish reflects one of the strongest overall years for the department in recent memory. Throughout the 2025-26 season, the Avenging Angels saw success across numerous programs, highlighted by conference championships, postseason appearances, national recognition, and record-breaking performances.
Women's lacrosse continued its dominance within the conference, capturing another USA South Tournament Championship and earning an NCAA Tournament berth. Softball delivered one of the strongest seasons in program history, while cross country and track & field competed at a high level throughout the year with several standout performances and postseason appearances. Several teams contributed valuable points throughout the year, helping Meredith remain near the top of the conference standings across the full athletic season.
The finish also signals continued momentum for Meredith Athletics as the department continues to grow its competitive profile, invest in facilities, and expand opportunities for student-athletes. Meredith previously captured the Women's Presidents Cup during the 2014-15 athletic year, and this season's runner-up finish positions the Avenging Angels to continue pushing toward the top of the conference standings in the years ahead.
The Women's Presidents Cup has been awarded annually by the USA South since the 2004-05 season, while the Overall Presidents Cup dates back to the 1978-79 athletic year.
