RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith soccer delivered a valiant first half effort, but fell 3-0 to Guilford in its home opener on a warm and humid Friday evening in Raleigh.
The Avenging Angels held steady with the Quakers in the first half, standing even at 2-2 in the shot count at the halftime break thanks to steady all-around team play.
However, the second half saw Guilford take advantage of a pair of corner kick opportunities to put away a pair of goals.
Then, the Quakers struck for a third goal minutes later.
With the Quakers in command at 3-0, the game was ended early as lightning moved into the area.
Up next, the Avenging Angels are back in action at home tomorrow, hosting Bob Jones at 5 p.m.
