Kim Scavone was named head coach of Meredith College softball in 2010 and has built the Avenging Angels into one of the most successful programs in the USA South Conference. A former Boston College standout and member of the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame, Scavone has brought a wealth of collegiate and professional experience to Meredith while developing student-athletes on and off the field.
Under Scavone's leadership, Meredith has consistently competed among the top programs in the conference, earning multiple postseason appearances, conference honors, and program milestones. In 2017, she guided the Avenging Angels to the USA South East Division Championship and a program-best 28 victories while earning her second USA South Coach of the Year honor. Meredith has also advanced to multiple USA South Tournament final rounds during her tenure, including three consecutive appearances from 2017-2019.
The 2026 season marked another step forward for the Meredith softball program as Scavone guided the Avenging Angels to a historic 6-0 start in conference play, the first time in program history the team opened league competition with six consecutive victories. Freshman pitcher Lillie Davis was named USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Year, while five Avenging Angels earned All-Conference honors. Over the previous two seasons, Meredith posted back-to-back 20-win campaigns, combining for a 42-35 record while producing 10 All-Conference selections.
Throughout her career at Meredith, Scavone has helped develop numerous standout student-athletes, including Amanda White, who became the program's first USA South Player of the Year and later earned NCAA Division III National Statistical Champion honors in slugging percentage. Pitcher Amanda Beirne led NCAA Division III in strikeouts during the 2014 season, while Alyssa Drake and Fallon Wimberly earned All-Region recognition in 2022.
Prior to arriving at Meredith, Scavone served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Fordham University from 2003-2005, helping guide the Rams to an Atlantic 10 regular season championship, a program-record 38 wins, and school records for earned run average, shutouts, and strikeouts. She also played and coached professionally overseas in the Italian Federation Softball League, where she helped lead Giovane Porpetto to a league championship while earning recognition as one of the top pitchers in the league.
Scavone enjoyed an outstanding collegiate playing career at Boston College from 2000-2003. A four-year starter and team captain, she earned Big East Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman before being named Big East Pitcher of the Year and a First Team All-Big East selection as a senior. She finished her career as the Big East career and single-season strikeout record holder, earned First Team Regional All-American honors, and helped lead Boston College to an NCAA Tournament appearance.
A native of Bay Shore, New York, Scavone was inducted into the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class in 2012 before later joining the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2014. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston College.
