Box Score 2 Danville, Va. - The Meredith volleyball team completed a split
in USA South conference matches on Friday night. Meredith completed
a 3-0 sweep of Mary Baldwin and lost 3-1 to Averett.
Meredith 3, Mary Baldwin
0 - The Avenging Angels made quick of Mary Baldwin winning
in straight sets 25-18, 25-15, 25-8. Leanne Burton led all hitters
with nine kills and Anna Hayes added seven. Five hitters all had
four kills each; Kara Baughman, Molly Markley, Rebecca Yow, Mallory Booker, and Caroline Cobb. Baughman also added 17 assists and
Booker had 11 digs to lead Meredith.
Averett 3, Meredith
1 - Meredith (11-7, 6-5 USA South) lost the two first sets
25-21, 25-18, then stormed back to win the third 25-18 score after
considerably increasing their attack percentage. Averett completed
the win with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set. Cori Spade led the
way with 18 kills and 7 digs. Burton added a 10 kill and 23 assist
effort to lead the Angels. Clarke Glendenning had 20 assists and
seven digs. MaryBeth Finegan led all diggers with 15.
Meredith next travels to Washington, D.C. to take on Gallaudet
University on Friday at 2 p.m.
